Angkor Wat & Thom Monkey Archives 
I saw a video the other day (very graphic) that was Buttercup dead. Do you have that info? I didn’t see any other videographers who talked about it, although I haven’t been watching all of them. I heard Butter has been hanging out in the forest for awhile.

Debra – I viewed the video as well. It was really difficult to watch.
I haven’t heard from other videographers on the situation, but Angkor Daily had mentioned that Buttercup was being fed around a car with other monkeys and when she was full she decided to lie under one of the wheels. When the car was ready to move the other monkeys scrambled away, but Buttercup didn’t. Unfortunately, the person driving the car didn’t realize that Buttercup was still under the tire and he ran over her. She got run over in the morning and only a few hours later I saw Angkor Daily mentioned that they already burned her body (it was the same day). I didn’t see Butter in any of the videos that I’ve watched so far, but I’ve only watched the ones on Angkor Dialy’s channel, because I haven’t had a lot of time to view the videos. If I hear more information back I’ll let you know.

I noticed that SP BBlover refers to this troupe as Amber Group instead of Queens group. Any idea why?

Debra – I believe it’s because when he originally started following Queen’s troop, it was Amber that initiated it. SP BBlover focused on the babies a lot in the beginning and then as time went on we started learning about the mothers and from there we started fleshing out all the rankings.

I am always very curious about who is related to who …For example in Queens group which females are possible sisters ..or mothers…?could Daisy and Queen and or Jane be sisters?Who is Penelopes mother?Jane? isn’t it usually only the alpha male that is the father to all the babies(im sure a few sneak around and might have a different mate)until that alpha gets demoted etc… anyone has any theories or knows certain family lines and relations i think it would help explain possible social behaviors…etc..and just more knowledge of how these troupes live and interact…also when the males get to the age of leaving the troupe do they migrate to the other troupes in the area?wow think of all the possible relations..???

We’re still trying to figure out which females are related since females never leave the troop unless for a specific reason. Recently I’ve been doing research regarding genetic traits that can be passed down to see if I can’t notice anything that would link nuclear families together.
There has been a lot of comments on who Penelope’s mother is, and I believe at some point people were discussing how she might be one of Gladdis’ offspring. We aren’t sure because when she was raising Piper, she didn’t have an influential mother figure like April did when raising Rain. Though, Daisy, April, and May are an uncommon display of a nuclear family.
LTMs live in multi-female and multi-male troops, and the Alpha male will try to be the only one that reproduces. This is done through mate guarding – the male will follow the female around essentially warding off all other males who would want to mate with her.
Since female LTMs like humans can sync up their cycles, they will do it to add other genes into the troop – strengthening the troop. If the Alpha male is busy, a female LTM will go and find another mate – this can be an outsider or a lesser male in the troop. They are very promiscuous and conceal their ovulation, which means the male can’t always tell when a female is fertile at least not the length of her fertility. This is why males will continue to mate with females even when they conceive. It’s to confuse the males and conceal the fact that some infants might not be his.
Males emigrate into other troops in surrounding areas. Sometimes they’ll wait in their natal troop if they have a male sibling or friends that they want to travel with. These males will travel in a group and break off when they find a new troop. Males who enter a troop with a relative currently in it are more likely to stay in the troop for a longer duration of time. I did find it interesting that brothers and sisters won’t have sex no matter if they are both mature. I think something in their genetic makeup says, “don’t do that it will weaken the troop.”

I would say it would be quite difficult to be very accurate on who is related to who without blood work being done but as somewhat stated in the previous reply you can observe them quite closely and assume relations by personality , looks is nearly impossible lol and of course who snuggles with who for instance Merry has Joey Sherry and Sasha Joey still gets a nurse from time to time but only if sherry is off doing something else or with her aunt Sasha im not sure but he might be completely weaned . there’s a male about 1.5 yrs old that’s been hanging around Selly and Vino that I think may belong to Selly . there’s also playlist on Sochuns channel that has them separated into family’s that we can use to help identify other siblings. Ella Aka Bella the PT with the collar has no baby’s to our knowledge they don’t particular like mating with LTs they avoid them as much as possible at least that’s my observation 🙂 and Sochun Aka SPBBlover is the one who was told that Ella was dropped off by her owner, ide imagine the others were too and Its said that Mr Sochun was the first to start recording these monkeys but however he’s only been doing it for almost “4 maybe 5 yrs. You can do searches back as far as 2010 at least that’s how far I went back. The only thing I do is start from the day that I began watching them plus go by his playlist and then just keep going fwd. Cameramans lured Daniella by food to made her walked far away from her group, suddenly monkey Santra run toward to bite her died on the spot.

No. She just turned 2 and is still around. Has a younger brother now, Jody, who’s going to be 1 the end of Nov. ‘21. And Jane is pregnant again, due any time, but best guess is early Dec.

I was looking for Janna and Jerry last seen in September and now disappeared, from the videos when they were pets before being abandoned, they didnt have so much fur as they did in the videos i have seen after abandoment, Jerry teeth were not formed propley at the front so when he grimaced it looked as if he had no teeth, This little chappie was so loveable as a pet, he was a real naughty boy,last time i saw him in the forest he was clinging to Janni petrified,

Jane’s daughter Janna fell from a tree earlier this summer and passed.

Janna died in July of 22. Of course being one of Janes lazy tit leaches …she’s the second or third of her babies to die jazzy and Jody were injured but survived
